Mr. Alex Zhou is a Partner at Qiming Venture Partners. Alex has over 15 years of working experience in venture capital, startups, and high-tech companies.
Alex joined Qiming Venture Partners in 2014, and focuses on investments in frontier technologies (such as artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous driving, privacy computing), enterprise software, semiconductor, intelligent manufacturing, etc. Alex has worked as board director/observer with entrepreneurs at "unicorn" companies - UBTech Robotics, Megvii, Biren, RoboRock (SHSE: 688169), Tongdun, and Unisound – and other high growth startups such as Mech-Mind Robotics, Yunji Technology, Viewtrix, Axera, Casela, Nvxclouds, ABC Technology, Chaitin (acquired by Alibaba), IDSManager (acquired by Alibaba), XSKY, TigerGraph, SequoiaDB, Transwarp, Eigen, ReelSky Data Systems, Genius Education, HYperstrong, DSTcar, etc.
Prior to Qiming, Alex worked for KPCB (Kleiner Perkins) in Beijing and Silicon Valley, where he was actively involved in TiDAL Systems (acquired by Micron Technology). Before beginning his investment career, Alex worked for HP (Hewlett-Packard) and oversaw the company's data storage business unit in China. Alex also co-founded Rethink Technologies, a startup focusing on managing unstructured data.
Alex was recognized by the 36Kr China’s Top 20 Semiconductor Investors, the Jazzyear China’s Top 20 Tech Investors, and the FoF Weekly China’s Top 30 Investor Young Leaders in 2020.
Alex holds an M.B.A. degree in finance and entrepreneurship from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology.
