David Chu is a Partner at Qiming Venture Partners, focusing on fundraising and investor relations for Qiming’s USD funds. David has over 20 years of experience in the U.S. and China’s venture capital ecosystems as a limited partner, financial advisor to entrepreneurs, and venture capitalist.
Prior to joining Qiming, David was a Senior Investment Officer with the Private Equity team at the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA). David led LACERA’s internal execution of PE/VC co-investments and secondaries, a program which he helped architect and implement. Prior to being promoted to Senior Investment Officer in 2018, David was responsible for managing LACERA’s global portfolio of venture capital and growth equity fund commitments. During his seven-year tenure, David served on 30 advisory boards and led over $2.5 billion in commitments across numerous PE/VC funds, co-investments, and secondaries.
Prior to that, David spent 10 years as a Co-Founder and Managing Director of SVP Capital Advisors, a Shanghai-based financial advisory firm. At SVP, David led the sourcing and execution of a dozen fundraising and M&A transactions with leading venture capital firms and strategics.
Earlier in his career, David worked at Idealab, Schroders, and Arthur Andersen.
David has an MBA from Cornell University and a BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
